EXPLORATION PROJECTS

Yantawena tributaries

In this prospect area several substantial tributaries drain easterly from a granitic/felsic volcanic basement into the northern reaches of the Yarramba Palaeovalley. Systematic drilling by BHP Billiton Ltd in the late 1990s for basemetals in the underlying basement contained data that Curnamona Energy has used to recently recognise this potential environment for the first time. The distribution of BHP Billiton Ltd drilling and the lack of downhole geophysics means that this drainage system is completely untested.

It is believed that this area has all the attributes required for the formation of roll front uranium deposits, a uranium enriched bedrock source and potential trapping sites along the length of the tributaries and/or the adjacent Yarramba Palaeovalley.

A reconnaissance exploration drilling programme is therefore proposed to better define the limits of the palaeovalley and to determine if there is evidence of uranium mineralisation.
