EXPLORATION
PROJECTS
Mongala section
Detailed analysis of the physiography of the Yarramba Palaeovalley
will be undertaken to determine the optimum placement of initial
drill traverses. By analogy with Honeymoon, this will be where there
is evidence of confluence of tributaries, confinement and restriction
of the palaeovalley, ponding of the original river channels and
abnormal concentration of organic material such as lignite deposits.
Several such areas are identified on Figure 3 by the proposed drill
traverses.

Accordingly the Honeymoon deposit has been used as a target model
to design a systematic drilling and gamma ray wire-line logging
programme to locate the key indicators of uranium mineralisation
including abnormal downhole radioactivity and the transition from
an oxidising to a reducing state in the channel sands. The exploration
budget has been designed to deliver this outcome.
